WaterMelon Lantern For MoonCake Festival
As the shophouses then were small and cramped, the streets became the common area for most families. Responding to this need, street side stalls in Chinatown often served dual purposes. Products sold during the day (vegetables, meat and fish) usually differed from those sold at night (clothes and daily necessities).
Food and drink hawkers, peddlers, fortune-tellers, travelling medicine salesmen, storytellers, buskers and opera singers all contributed to the bustle of life and noise, an atmosphere we know you’ll enjoy as we revive lost traditions and forgotten practies in Chinatown.
Today, Bugis Street has revamped itself by having sheltered walkway and air cond shopping zones, hence improving the shopping ambience. Bugis Street now houses about 600 stalls, offering electric mix of trendy and functional fashion wear, local delicacies and fruits, hawker food and beauty services, transforming itself into the largest street shopping location in Singapore.
Possibly one of the best known areas of Singapore, Bugid Streer retains its distintive street shopping feel. The street is usually bustling with locals and tourists from all walks of life, be it meeting for coffee, shopping for trendy clothes, or just hanging out.
A cosy chill out cafe located in the middle of a fashion haven, Teenage @Bugis Cafe serves a variety of western food such as sandwiches & pastas. Our signature fish & chiops & grilled chicken will surely satisfy everybody.
